Chapter Twelve

Thomas checked out his ass instead, longing to put his hand on it. He wanted to run his fingers down the seam and push one finger right up inside him. “Did I ever tell you you have a great ass?” he asked.

“Professionalism, Thomas.”

“That was my keen lawyer observation skills,” Thomas remarked with a smirk and then gave in to his craving to touch and stroked his hand over Greenly’s firm ass right down the seam to cup one cheek.

“Thomas.” Greenly straightened and gave him a warning look.

“Yeah, that’s bordering on sexual harassment,” he drawled. “But you have a fine ass, and I’m thinking how nice it would be to finger it until you come for me.”

“No.”

Thomas laughed at the stern look on his face. The man wanted him, but he was fighting it. “I don’t like the idea of that white boy’s hands on you. In fact, I don’t want any other man’s hands on you.”

“That’s not your concern,” Greenly reminded him in an almost stoic tone.

Thomas saw that hint of interest in his eyes, and that tiny spark of boldness that had come to life in the wake of his intense hurt flared brighter. He leaned close enough to whisper in Greenly’s ear. “He can’t have you.” He kissed his ear and drew back.

Greenly’s gaze flared with curiosity just as the office door opened. Thomas’s stare held a challenge that enthralled Greenly.

Paul’s gaze went from one to the other. “What are you two doing?” he demanded, his eyes narrowing on them.

Greenly’s gaze chilled as he turned to Paul. “We’re looking at some evidence for our case.”

“We were about to make out until you showed up,” Thomas said in a sullen tone and then rolled his eyes at the shock on his father’s face. “Really, Dad, you should see the look on your face. It’s a good thing you didn’t walk in ten seconds later or you’d have seen us plastered all over each other tongues in each other’s mouths.”

Greenly chuckled, and Paul glared.

“Did Jacinto give you the check?” Thomas demanded.

“Yes,” he answered stiffly. “I’m satisfied you have a paying client. What have you two found?”

“A mental med expert,” Greenly answered. “Along with some other evidence we need to sift through before we know if it’s usable.”

“What is it concerning?” Paul asked, coming to stand in front of Greenly’s desk.

“Well, there is a chance Peter knew Gruber outside of when they met at the Conclave, but beyond that I’m not certain what we have yet,” Greenly told him. “We have to check it all out.”

Paul frowned. “Is there a chance Lightly was involved in some kind of organization that Gruber led?”

“Not that I can see,” Greenly told him. He wasn’t about to give away all that he knew to a man whose goal was to destroy gays. Lightly knew Gruber through a friend who had work associations with Gruber, but there is no evidence he had any real social contact with him.”

Paul nodded. “Keep me up to date on that,” he said.
